Cases We're Looking At

ATTENTION:   DON'T THROW OUT YOUR GIFT CARDS WITH BANKRUPT STORES!

Your gift cards may have a priority claim in the bankruptcy.

Your gift cards may have a priority claim in the bankruptcy.  We’ve successfully pursued these in the past.  In Sharper Image, we recovered 100% for gift card holders, forced a similar recovery in Radio Shack, and fought for Borders gift card holders all the way to the Supreme Court.

If you have a gift card from Art Van, or J Crew, or any other retailer that may go into bankruptcy, we’d welcome your call, 312-606-0500 or email: help@krislovlaw.com

IS YOUR BANK GARNISHING YOUR COVID-19 STIMULUS CHECK?

We are investigating whether banks processing direct-deposit stimulus checks from the federal government are retaining portions of this money to satisfy purported debts owed to the banks by their customers.  If the amount of your stimulus check has been reduced by your bank in order to satisfy past-due loan payments, overdraft fees or other bank costs, please contact us for a free evaluation, contactus@krislovlaw.com.

OTHER MATTERS WE'RE LOOKING INTO:

At KrislovLaw, we're always interested in hearing from you with injustices to be pursued.  Email us:  mail@krislovlaw.com or contactus@krislovlaw.com.

Cases we're looking at:
  • Covid19 Matters:
    • Insurance denials of Business Interruption claims
    • Price gouging
  • Securities:  Pipeline Cashout Mergers
  • Car Rental Charges
  • Travel Charges by Hotels and Others
  • We are also investigating seeking a refund for non-use, delayed or partial use for full season sports game pay tv packages with Comcast and DirecTV for MLB, NBA, and the NHL.

Email us with new cases you think we should look into.  No charge for reviewing cases. And, if we think it's a case worth pursuing, we usually do it on a purely contingent fee basis

UNCASHED CITY OF CHICAGO CHECKS

Krislov Law, through a FOIA request to the City of Chicago, uncovered 22,000 uncashed checks, totaling $11 million dating back 22 years.

On August 19, 2019, Krislov Law filed a complaint in the Circuit Court of Cook County against the City of Chicago for failing to comply with the Illinois Uniform Disposition of Unclaimed Property Act and the Revised Unfirom Unclaimed Property Act, and attached the list of uncashed checks as an exhibit.

You can review the complaint and the list to see if you are owed money by clicking the links below:

MUTUAL FUNDS ANALYSIS PROJECT

Did your broker choose the right Mutual Fund Share class?

Your broker's choice of shares in the same mutual fund may have cost you money. We will analyze your shares, advise you of what we think you've lost, and bring an arbitration proceeding if appropriate.

If you want us to do this, fax (312-739-1098) or email to us (analysis@krislaw.com) your most recent broker statement, along with your contact information. And, if you have any of the following:

1.  Do you currently know how much you're paying in annual fees?

2.  What was your original investment time horizon (in years)?

3.  What is your current investment time horizon?

4.  When was the account originally opened?

5.  How much was the original amount invested (approximately)?

We will get right back to you.  Any questions?  Email:  analysis@krislaw.com

INFORMATION REGARDING

RETIREE HEALTHCARE LITIGATION

Contributions:

"Korshak" Retiree Healthcare Litigation:

Retiree Healthcare (the Korshak/Underwood litigation for all City of Chicago annuitants):  In litigation dating back to 1987 the City, on May 15, 2013, declared its intention to phase out and end retiree healthcare entirely by the end of 2016.

We launched the current challenge to that in late 2013.  The case was removed to federal court, dismissed, but reversed and remanded to the Circuit Court of Cook County, Illinois.

Currently pending in the Illinois Appellate Court is our Petition for Rehearing on the Court's June 29, 2017 Opinion, which expands the covered class to everyone whose first hire date was before June 16, 2003.

On January 31, 2019, we filed the Sixth Amended Class Action Complaint, asserting claims for lifetime protection under the Constitution's Art. XIII, Section 5 Pension Protection Clause, as well as Breach of Contract and Estoppel.

The case is being actively pursued to fight for your promised lifetime retiree healthcare benefits.
